Rainy Nights- Beef Stew Recipe

It is a Saturday night and I am curled up in my PJ's on the couch doing some work! If you had told me 2 years ago that I would be this happy doing nothing I never would have believed you.

It is an uncharacteristically rainy night here in southern CA.  It was cloudy and cold (in the upper 60's) all day.  I knew I wanted to cook tonight and I couldn't decide what... until I talked to chick nelson on the phone.  She gave me the inspiration I needed.

BEEF STEW!!!

It has been a while since i have made it and it is the perfect kind of day for it!  I have written out the recipe for all that might want to try it! It is a crockpot recipe (My favorite) and is really simple... and Delicious!

I hope you enjoy your rainy day as much as I am!

salt
pepper
garlic
Worcestershire sauce
1 white onion
4 lrg potatoes
bag of baby carrots
6 stalks of celery
3 cups beef stock

Presidential Election and all things political

Voting.  I think our generation has slowly lost the need or desire to vote. If you are anything like me then you might think "why do it? When you live in California (or anywhere on the west coast for that matter) then our voices are not necessary to be heard.  I didn't want to register because I did not want to be selected for jury duty. I did not think that my life changed that greatly regardless of who got nominated for president.  This is just another ploy for the government to make us feel like we had a choice in things, when in reality it is all just a game."

This was my thinking in every past election.  WELL I have changed my tune.  As you all know 3 years ago I began my career in Real estate.  I had previously worked in property management and before that been a long time server.  I got into this business because it is something I truly enjoy and want to excel at.  Little did I know that I would have to wear so many hats as an agent.  I am a therapist, a negotiator, a shoulder to lean on, and a punching bag for the world to let out its agression.  I don't know how many of you can say you have worked for commission only, but my friends let me tell you... it can be rough! With all that said I love it.  And I have realized that this years elections hold a great impact on not only our state but on the country as a whole.  We are broken and we need to be fixed.  I am not here to tell you HOW OR WHO can fix it.  I just think more active participation is how it will be fixed.  EVERYONE needs to get out and vote on November 6th.  There are issues that touch every single one of our lives and will have an impact on you.  I sure want to have a say in how my money gets spent on the state and local levels.  Remember when you go to vote it is not just a democrat/ republican thing.  This is something that shapes our future!!

TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO REGISTER:
IT ONLY TAKES MINUTES TO DO!!

So do your civic duty.  Register today and make a difference for our children! This is a Great country! Lets keep it that way!

Boss's Day

SO it is 3:00 on a Tuesday and I bet you did not know today is a holiday!

It is BOSS'S DAY!  Whether you are "the boss" or you have a boss today is a day to appreciate the fair and kind treatment that bosses of all kinds give.  If you are like me you have had quite a few jobs in the past.  I would like to give a shout out to all of the great people I have worked for.  It is not easy to manage people and still be liked.  You have to figure out how to be diplomatic and how to get the job done effectively.  I have had EXCELLENT bosses in the past and I want to use this blog as a medium to say THANK YOU!

3 years ago I took the step to becoming my own boss.  Real estate is now a passion for me and I thank my lucky stars every day that this is the career I have pursued.  I do sometimes miss the structure and guaranteed paycheck of an 8-5 job, however I am happy to say that this job has become both fruitful and fulfilling.  I challenge you to find something that you love to do! It will make your days brighter and your life longer!  For me it was becoming my own boss!  Sometimes I am a stress case and I wish it could be easier, but someone once told me:
"If it is easy  it is not worth it!!"

Oktoberfest, Old World Huntington Beach

I have officially decided I love Fall the best.  I mean, I probably say that at the beginning of each new season but right now I am REALLY into fall.  The last month of weather here in southern California has been brutally.  Some people might think I sound spoiled because it has been HOT... but it has also been humid! I am not used to, nor will I ever like the humidity!  It is just HORRIBLE!!! So when September rolled around I was ready for the cooling off trend and my small town of Huntington Beach to return to normalcy from the craziness of summer.

WELL, that didn't happen.... until today! October 11th!!! It finally rained and its cool and it smells good!  It is the weather that I have wanted, BOOTS AND SCARVES!!! YAHOO! In a few months I will be ready for Summer again, but right now I am relishing in the cool beautiful grey!

Now... what really makes me excited bout October is Oktoberfest.  I was lucky enough to go to Germany a few years back and visit the real thing!  There is nothing like it.  BIG beers, friendly people, fun music and GREAT food!  I loved it so much that since I have gotten back I have looked for a substitute.  In Huntington Beach there is a little place called Old World.  They serve up a great replication of the real thing!  It runs all through September and October and I would definitely advise checking it out!!! For families they have weinerdog races, great food and live music.  For the party goers there is always a line around the building and a cold beer waiting for you inside! So get into the German spirit, gather a group of friends together and bust out the lederhosen! You are in for a great time!

Its a HEAT WAVE!!!!

As long as I have lived in California I do not remember it ever being this hot in October!!! I mean this in the best way possible, but I think we are a bunch of spoiled people who get great weather ALL of the time... It is beautiful here. We have large cities, beautiful mountains and lakes and expansive ocean all in our backyard. Yet somehow we always find something to complain about (myself included).  When it is Hot we cant wait for it to cool off and when it is cold we complain we pay too much to live here to never see the sun!
What is your favorite time of year?
I love the heat at the begining of the summer and I love the fall as soon as it comes around.  more than anything I love the traditions that fall brings and also the ability to wear that cute scarf that pulls it all together!  I wouldn't change where I live for anything.  Maybe we should stop wishing for something different and just be happy with what we have!

CHANGES

This blog was started to promote things to do in Orange County.  I believe that is something that is missing.  A quick go to place where you can find something to do for the weekend, or a great restaurant that someone has already spent the money to taste test for you!  I have slacked on making this blog anything because I have not been inspired.  I feel like I have so much to fit into one day that I can not keep up with work let alone a blog ( I know I am speaking to the masses because I don't even have kids.... I cant imagine).  Well I am about to make this blog more.

I have a passion for cooking.  I love to eat and I love to find recipes, restaurants and party ideas based around food.  I also love to workout.(SOMETIMES).  I love the way it makes me feel and I love how you have the opportunity within yourself to change your own body!  SO I will also talk about new fitness trends and the ways I am changing my life to be healthier.

Don't get me wrong.  There will be Real estate posts because that is my life as well.  I want to show you how exciting investing in a future can be and I truly believe that real estate is the best way to do that!  I think this is gonna be more of a Hodge podge of ideas and I hope you will enjoy following me!

Every day is a new day and today mine is the beginning of something new!
