Sgt. Peppers Dueling Pianos~ Long Beach CA

Fun Factor: (5 out of 5)

Cost: $7 to get in; then it Depends on how much you drink and tip
Accessibility:  Open from 7pm- 2 am  I recommend getting there at 7 to get a great seat!

I am so happy to write about this place!I know it is not in Orange County... and its a little bit far from my home, but I have had some great memories in this bar.  It is called Sgt. Peppers Dueling Pianos.  It is located in The Pike in Downtown Long Beach.  There is a ton to do here, but you must check out this place.  It is a bar/ restaurant that has 2 pianos and a handful of very talented musicians.  There are always at least 2 people on stage... sometimes 3.  They can perform ANYTHING you want to hear.  It is for people that love music and love to have a good time.

The night begins with a few drinks and some appetizers.  They have typical bar fare, but who doesn't love that!  The performers start the "act" and you sit in amazement as they perform everything from early 50's to today's Pop top 40.  At one point one of the women even busted out a rap!!! As the night progresses the audience is singing and dancing along.  Everyone's inhibitions are gone and it is just a GREAT party!

If you have a special occasion or some kind of gathering where you are entertaining a bunch of people.... grab your keys and drive on down.  Or make a day of it and come down to The Pike in Long beach and check out all of the great shops and restaurants that downtown has to offer!

Located at 91 South Pine Avenue at The Pike in Long Beach.  Just one block north of Shoreline Drive.

Take a Hike

I would not consider myself an avid exerciser, Nor would I say that I am a couch potato!  I get motivated about 3 times a week to get up and make myself move.  Not because I love to go to the gym... but because I feel disgusting if I don't!  As you can tell from previous posts I do enjoy good food and an occasional cocktail, so this has become my motivation in and of itself.

Keeping this in mind, I have come to realize that when I am doing something outdoors I am far more likely to enjoy it!! Whether that is running along the beach, taking a yoga class or riding my bike to Newport. (That will definitely be a separate post.) There is more motivation for me to keep going, and a much higher likely hood that I will do it again if I am outdoors!

Therefore, I would like to share with you one of my favorite hiking spots that is just a short drive away!  It is called Moro Canyon.  It is located in between Newport Coast and Laguna Beach.  There are many different hiking trails at this location. I would recommend starting with the shortest one and working your way up.  The beginner hike is a 3 mile loop.  The incline is not very steep and it winds you through the interior of the park.  Once you are at the top there is a spectacular 180 degree view of the Pacific ocean!  It is fantastic!  It is like all of that walking just brought you up to paradise.

By the time you are making your way down, all you can think about is the glorious scenery you just captured in your mind, and when will be the next time you  are available to tackle that hill!! If I could make it out there everyday I would!  It is a breathtaking view for a minimal cost (you have to pay to park, but it goes towards maintaining the beauty of the trails).... And all the while you are exercising!

It's Finally Friday, Free Again!!!

All week we look forward to the weekend and the fun that lies ahead.  It is what keeps us working hard and what makes us hardly work! Monday always rolls around way too quickly! There is one thing I love the most about Friday's... Mai tai's.  Not just the drink, but also the place that I go to get them!  Dukes in Huntington Beach has the BEST Mai tai's this side of Hawaii!  Dukes is a Hawaiian style restaurant located at the base of the Huntington Beach pier.  There is something for everyone! If you are looking for a place for a formal business meeting head  out to the restaurant.  But if you want a fun bar atmosphere with great food and drinks the Barefoot Bar is the place to be! This is where you will find the heavenly goodness that is called a Mai tai.  It is made of light and dark rum mixed with a delicious Pineapple, Papaya, Orange and Guava juice!  A very tantalizing creation!  If you get off early enough try to make it in time for Dukes Aloha hour.  From 3:30-6:30 they offer a discounted price on all bar entrees.  This allows you to go in and enjoy a great meal and a cheap drink and not break the bank! (See... I'm telling you, it just keeps getting better!)

I can definitely say that this is one of my favorite places to hang out! Both Locals and Yelper's  agree this is a great place to relax and have a drink!  Not only that, but Dukes offers a great location at an affordable price.  The Hawaiian atmosphere picks you up and places you on that tropical island in the middle of nowhere! Where else can you leave the worries of the week behind and truly enjoy just being alive! So slip off those work shoes, put on something nice and head on down to Dukes to grab yourself a Mai tai! you will not be sorry!

Dog Beach, Huntington Beach, CA

Fun factor: (5 out of 5)

Accesibility: Open 5 am to 10 pm daily
Cost: $0 (unless you feel like donating to the cause!)

I am a lover of animals.  All animals really.  I think that they are the ultimate symbol of unconditional love.  When you come home after a long day of work and you are tired and the world has kicked your butt... your pet is there to welcome you home with open arms.  They dont care if you got a flat tire, got yelled at by your boss or got a speeding ticket! They love you no matter what! The minute you walk through the door they are there to lick your face and tell you that they missed you.

I have a dog named Tyson.  He is a 125 pd american bulldog.  He thinks he is a lap dog.  Everyday when I come home he wags his tail so hard I think he is going to throw himself off of the couch!  He doesn't care if we are out on a walk or just laying on the couch... He is happiest when I am home with him!

When I take Tyson on a walk I love to take him to DOG BEACH.  This is a place where owners and pets alike run up and down the oceans edge enjoying the sights and sounds of both people and animals. Huntington beach is one of very few places left that offer a location such as this.  Dog Beach is situated on Pacific Coast Highway between Seapoint Ave and 21st St in the beautiful city of Huntington Beach, CA.  This is an incredible place. Even if you do not own your own dog and just want to visit and watch, this section of the beach is one of a kind!  Best of all it is FREE! For More Information checkout the DOG BEACH WEBSITE!  or go to my website and look under the Huntington beach tab!  If you really like the beach and want to help, there are many volunteering opportunities available!

Its only just begun....

So I have decided to start a blog about the fun and exciting things to do in Orange County and the surrounding Southern CA area.  I am currently a Real Estate agent in the city of Huntington Beach.  I have sold properties up and down the coast and I truely believe we live in an incredible place.  You have a great mix of outdoor activities, great restaurants, great bars and swingin night life... It is a true smorgousboard of activities! There is so much to see and do here and I want to share the things I love with everyone.  I will be throwing in some market information and some killer  Real estate deals that I find along the way because that is my passion as well.  I hope that you will find this blog helpful, informative and entertaining!!  Maybe it will even provide you with a fun friday night! Let the good times roll....
